District Departments
Departments strive to serve the district as a whole while maintaining a focus on individual student's needs. The links below and those in the menu on Viking's portion of the website are focused on the middle school's department information. For a larger overview of each department, you can find similar links under the District Department webpage.
Food Services - The Food Service department meets high nutritional standards to provide breakfast, lunch, and field trip meals. The kitchen and dining area are located just inside the main entrance. Menu items vary daily and a salad option is available every day.
Health Services - The Health Services department is committed to supporting the well-being of all students ensuring a safe and healthy learning environment. The nurses office is connected to the front office complex.
Student Services -The Student Services department collaborates with parents, educators, and community partners across the district to provide comprehensive and individualized support for our students. At Viking that involves counseling services for social and emotional support through the transitional middle school years. It also involves career education and a mentoring program.
Community Facilities and Activities - The middle school has two gymnasiums baseball/softball fields, and a football/soccer field. Reservation of those and other areas at the high school are managed by the Community Facilities and Activities department.
Athletics - The middle school offers football, volleyball, cross country, wrestling, basketball, baseball, and track to foster physical and social growth through challenging competitions that encourage teamwork, sportsmanship, and personal excellence.
Transportation - Middle school transportation for school and extracurricular events picks up and drops off in the bus loading zone which is along the north side of the building.
Technology - The technology department maintains the secure WiFi network and manages classroom software throughout the middle school. They provide Chromebooks for students to checkout through the library but students are also allowed to bring their own devices or lease a low cost Chromebook through the district.
Library -The library is a central hub of the middle school. It offers students an area to work and collaborate as well as providing them with research materials and presentation tools. Students are also encouraged to check out books for leisure reading.
