School-Based Mental Health
The Baldwin-Woodville Area School District has partnered with Western Wisconsin Health and Midwest Psychological Services to increase access to mental health services and also provide youth resilience curriculum and programs.
What does this mean for our students?
Through this program, students will have access to a qualified, licensed clinical mental health provider during the school day. There will be a provider in the buildings on various days throughout the school year. The Western Wisconsin Health providers will be as follows (subject to change): Dr. Christopher Babbitt, Clinical Psychologist at Greenfield Elementary, Viking Middle School and Baldwin Woodville Area High School; Donna Elenkiwich, Licensed Professional Counselor / Clinical Substance Abuse Counselor at Viking Middle School; and Bev Green Licensed Clinical Social Worker at Greenfield Elementary and Baldwin Woodville Area High School. Caitlyn Schmidt, MA, from Midwest Psychological will also be on site at Greenfield Elementary and Baldwin Woodville Area High School. This is a great opportunity for students to have access to services during the school day. It also addresses the fact that parents will minimize the amount of time off of work and rearrangement of schedules for such appointments.
How does this work?
The Baldwin Woodville Area School District provides space for providers from Western Wisconsin Health and Midwest Psychological Services to see students. Both providers accept most insurance plans. The initial appointment occurs at the clinic and then the student may be seen at school. Ongoing parent and/or guardian involvement, face to face or via phone consultations are required in the continuation of services. If you are interested in your child receiving services, please contact Maggie Whipple, Mental Health Navigator at 715-684-3334 extension 2205 or e-mail mwhipple@bwsd.k12.wi.us to obtain a referral form and learn more about the process.
