PRINCIPAL’S CORNER
MAY
It is hard to believe that another school year is just about in the books. With our lengthy winter season, it feels like spring has barely been here, and yet we are a few weeks away from summer break. As always, April and May have been filled with activity here at Viking. We completed state and local assessment, wrapped up track season, performed spring concerts, and held our annual Fun-Run. In the coming weeks our students look forward to collaborative projects, field trips, and our end of year dance.
As we prepare to say goodbye to students for the 2022-23 school year, we can reflect upon many positives from the last nine months. With the help of an outstanding teaching staff, our students accomplished many amazing things. We watched our kids grow socially, emotionally, behaviorally, and academically. Like any middle school, we also dealt with some challenges. Our goal, however, remains the same, providing your child with the best learning experience we possibly can. With that being said, please don’t hesitate to contact me if you have feedback that you would like to share about any aspect of your child’s experience here at Viking.
Please keep in mind that the last day for students here at Viking is Thursday, May 25th. School will dismiss early district-wide, with Viking excusing students at 10:50 am. On an assessment related note, Forward Exam results will be available to me in late June. I am anxious to see how our students performed on the state assessment. Student profile reports will be made available to parent(s)/guardian(s) at open house in August.
Finally, I want to thank all of our parent(s)/guardian(s) for your continued support of our efforts here at Viking. For those of you that are parents of our outgoing 8th graders, I want to wish you the best of luck as you embark on the high school voyage. For the rest of you, I look forward to our continued partnership next year. Have a great summer!
